Having seen the pictures in the Times last weekend, am going to bet this is much more camp that the original preppy handbook. In a very bad way.
The original was trying to take the piss but was still very entertainingly accurate in its observations.
This on other hand looks like it will talk about "being prep" or "being a preppster". And while both ideas are fun and great to see them carried out, they miss entirely the irony and accuracy and replaces them with too many pleats and pastels.
Most of us never realized what we were wearing was a "look." Where as now, its just a different branch of the costuming you see on the lower east side, where every third dude is trying to look like a $20,000 paul bunyn.
